In January 2023, I saw John's picture on Hinge and sent him a message (he disputes this, but I'm writing this and have a better memory). Over the next few weeks, we chatted with the detachment of two people over the age of 35 on a dating app, and loosely committed to meeting up for coffee.
In February, my company moved offices to a coworking space in Buckhead, and I was whiny and insufferable about the inconvenience of this new commute. Then, on Valentine's Day, getting a tour of the new office, my coworker pointed out that there was a man in the common area looking at me. It was John, who recognized me from the internet. Admittedly I hadn't even given him my number yet, but this new officemate was even better looking than his pictures. A workplace meet-cute became the plot twist our online chatting needed.
Four days later we went on our first date, and just over a year later he asked me to marry him on a beach in Sierra Leone.
I now adore his geriatric beagle, Lincs, and he agreed to schedule a wedding on a big SEC football weekend. Anyone who knows us will attest that these things are clear evidence of joyful, surprising, happily-ever-after love.
We are both overwhelmed by God's goodness in bringing us together, and can't wait to celebrate with you in November!
